Christmas - and Ultrasounds!

It has been an eventful few months. The holidays came and went fast, and the girls had a blast. This was the first year where they were both so excited, and really anticipated Christmas. Meg is still singing Rudolph a month later! The pictures are of the girls at Breakfast with Santa at our church, with Audrey and Drew. All of my family was in town, including my brother and his family, and my cousin and his family from Philadelphia. We had some full houses. Although the holidays were truly enjoyable for the girls, it was definitely harder than I had anticipated. But we made it through.

We then turned our attention to the next big hurdle, the twins's ultrasound. Everything looked great, with normal growth for both babies, and completely normal appearing anatomy. Each heart with four chambers! Such things we take for granted . . . I was having panic attacks driving to the appointment, but they looked perfect. And, both girls!!! Can you believe it? Four girls? Four times the drama? We are not sure we can handle two Megs running around like crazy, or two colicky Sophies. Hopefully, these two will have more of Greg's calmer demeanor! We still have their echocardiograms in about two weeks. This test will look at their hearts in much more detail, but we figure you can fix anything but a hypoplast. We also decided to have it done at Cardinal Glennon, instead of Children's. We received nothing but the best of care, but I we weren't sure how we would do being back in the same environment. We think it is a good decision.

I am starting to think more about the babies, and things that we are going to need, about breastfeeding two babies, and names. With the normal ultrasounds, I feel I am letting my guard down a little. I'll feel a lot better when we are further along (like full term) but we are getting much more excited, albeit scared!

Next week is Sophie's birthday, and most of Greg's family is going to be in town. In past years, we all would have been down at Mardi Gras - maybe next year when I am finally not pregnant! Oh well, we'll toss out beads here. She wants a "Lightning" cake, from the movie Cars. She's been talking about it since her last birthday. Hopefully it is recognizable, and at least I have a fully functional kitchen to make my life easier! No excuses this time, right?
